Looking forward to working with teachers this week as we learn to use SMART Notebook 17 and how easy it is to create engaging activities. Summer is just beginning, but the BVPS teachers are preparing for the 2017-18 school year!
We will have 1:1 in our 4th and 5th grades beginning this year in all 4 elementary schools. Training is ongoing all summer long so I hope you are taking advantage of these opportunities.
Many teachers use index cards and write the students username and password on them. How about jazzing it up a bit and using paint chips/cards to keep track of network and program logins? It would be nice if they were all the same for all programs but that is not always the case. This makes a neat and organized way to keep track of the usernames and passwords for all the different programs we use. You can create a template similar to the previous post on Printing on Post It Notes and actually print onto the paint cards.
1. Open your file and print it BEFORE you start working on the file. You want to begin with a blank template so you know where to put the post it notes. 2. Keep the same file open and type your message or notes in the first box. You can then copy and paste your text into the remaining boxes OR put something different in each box. 3. Before you print, put a post it note on each box of your template. If you don't want your text to have the box around it, just double click on the line and select Format Text Box --> Line Color--> No Color. Put it face down or up, depending on your printer and print as you normally would. Your message/note should be within each of the boxes. I always do a practice run without Post-It Notes to make sure I know which side is up :-)
I was fortunate enough to attend the ISTE Conference this year and I learned so much, my brain hurts! If you don't know already ISTE is the International Society for Technology in Education. A conference of that size is a little overwhelming but with the help of a friend and the many volunteers, I was soon able to navigate the conference and find sessions, playgrounds, and exhibitors. I will be sharing many of the things I learned here so stay tuned and visit often.
